Canelo Alvarez is gearing up for his return to the ring as he will face Edgar Berlanga in a bout in which he will put his WBC, WBO, WBA and The Ring super middleweight belts on the line at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas this Saturday, September 14.

Canelo (61-2-2, 39 KOs) is no longer the undisputed 168-pound champion because the IBF stripped him of his belt, after he did not comply with the order to defend the title against Cuban William Scull and chose the WBA mandatory challenger: Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs).

Berlanga is a fighter of Puerto Rican origin from Brooklyn, New York and will do his best to beat Alvarez, but Canelo should not be overconfident as his opponent is dangerous due to his power. He had a crushing start to the beginning of his career, where he won 16 consecutive knockouts, all in the first round, although in his next six wins he only got a KO.

What are the odds for Canelo vs Berlanga?

Saul Alvarez will step into the ring as a big favorite to win. the odds in Las Vegas are -1600, which means that for every $100 bet, the profit is $6.25, while Edgar Berlanga's victory pays +800 and a possible draw +1800.

Of course there are other options that increase the possibilities of obtaining a better profit if you want to bet on Canelo, although the risk increases. For example, if you choose to go for the knockout in any round, the odds are at -250, which for $100 gives a profit of $40, while for a technical decision you would get a better payout without so much risk with +225.

And although Canelo threatened Berlanga with the beating of his life, it seems that the tapatío gained experience with better moves in the ring, but lost power in his recent fights.

His last knockout dates back to 2019 when he defeated Sergey Kovalev, while in 2021 he became undisputed super middleweight champion when he defeated Caleb Plant by technical knockout, who after 11 rounds decided not to finish the fight.
