- Chicago Sky. Angel Reese is not alone: An NBA player offers to pay the fine for her ejection!
- Indiana Fever. Caitlin Clark gets a bodyguard: I'm going back to the WNBA to protect her
Angel Reese is no longer the only Chicago Sky player with a nickname after Chennedy Carter collected one too in the wake of her foul on Caitlin Clark in their loss to the Indiana Fever in early June.
Carter exploded into the centre of attention when she shouted something at Clark before approaching her from her blindside and shoving her aggressively to the floor, after the Fever ace appeared to taunt her on a previous play.
As a result, she's been slammed by WNBA figures, NBA figures and fans and commentators alike, outraged by her conduct, although she doesn't seem to care too much about it, or at least that's what the 25-year-old claims.
Either way, the world moves on, and the professional basketball didn't halt so she headed into her next game against the New York Liberty where the guard delivered a strong performance and at the buzzer to end the match, revealed her new name to the world.
"Hi Barbie," Carter said to Angel Reese, known as the Bayou Barbie, after the contest, revealing her new name whilst Reese responded with, "Hi Chenn," confirming her new nickname.
The pair have struck up quite the personal relationship in Illinois as the overall sixth pick of the WNBA draft could been seen jumping up to celebrate Carter's foul on Clark. Of course, Reese and Clark go way back to their time in the NCAA when they were put up as rivals and viewed as the two most talented players in college basketball.
Who do the Sky play next?
Carter scored 16 points against the Liberty, but it wasn't enough to deny them defeat as their record fell to 3-5 for the season as they lost 88-75.
They remain ahead of the Fever by 2.5 games and trail the Connecticut Sun at the top of the Eastern Conference by five wins.
They next take on the Washington Mystics at the Capital One Arena on Thursday, June 6 with the game commencing at 19:00 ET/16:00 PT. The Mystics are yet to win in the entire season through nine games.
