The area around the iconic Madison Square Garden was the sad scene of an attack by a group of Knicks fans who took it out on a poor Pacers fan, wearing his team's jersey, right after the New York team eliminated the Celtics and qualified for the Eastern Conference final against... the Pacers.
Hans Perez, that's the name of the Indiana fan who, tempting fate, proudly walked around in his Pacers jersey near the arena, when he was approached by a mob of Knicks fans, who upon noticing his presence began to surround him throwing trash and insulting him, so he had to get away from the place to avoid a lynching.
The images of the harassment he suffered went viral on social media and reached the Indiana franchise and its players, who were proud of his bravery and composure in not responding to the aggression in such a hostile situation. And so they were told by the team's star, Tyrese Haliburton, who ed him on the The Pat McAfee Show via video call.
Everyone in our organization wants to make sure you are well taken care of. The whole team is excited to meet you. It's all we've talked about
"Everyone in our organization wants to make sure you're well taken care of. The whole team is excited to meet you. It's all we've been talking about," the Pacers guard told the fan, who has been invited to the fourth game of the series against the Knicks at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Hans Perez thanked the gesture of the team of his loves in the aforementioned program, even showing Haliburton a Pacers tattoo that he has engraved on his skin: "What the hell? Tyrese!", said the fan when he saw one of his idols through the video call. "It was hard, I thought I was going to war with you guys," said this fan, a firefighter by profession.
What the hell? Tyrese!... It was tough, I thought I was going to war with you guys
Perez is excited for that fourth game to cheer on his team from the stands, as long as his bosses give him permission to be absent that day from his work duties: "I'm pretty sure I'll be able to work it out to have the day off. Go Pacers!" he shouted excitedly.
