Jeff Hardy is one of the most controversial characters in WWE, his dark past has tarnished his reputation and led to many suspensions and even firings.
Before his return to WWE in 2017, Jeff left the company in 2009 after refusing to attend a rehabilitation center as a condition of renewing his contract with the company, this departure hit hard as he was one of the faces of the company.
Prior to this departure, he had a rivalry with CM Punk that left many of us in awe, a feud that became real outside of the company's programming. The lifestyle of both of them was a trigger for this bomb to explode in Jeff Hardy.
Even after Jeff left the company, he continued to attack him, one of the most memorable for fans was when Hardy was recorded in a coffee shop with his brother, allegedly drugged and telling Punk that he made him a superstar.
The Chicago native always kept his composure and never responded to Punk's words, both had a small run in AEW. But they never had anything scheduled in Tony Khan's company.
Jeff insists on working with CM Punk again and burying this personal history
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Hardy was asked about the possibility of this fight:
"Yeah, the reality is it could happen. Our feud man, I still get so many compliments on that from people who are adults now, 'Oh man, you and Punk, that feud was amazing.
"I would love to revisit that feud in some way and who knows man, CM Punk is such a superpower in the pro wrestling game. If Jeff Hardy getting sober turned him into an asshole, heel Jeff Hardy vs. the one and only popular CM Punk, I think it's totally possible," commented the 'Charismatic Enigma'.
He recalled the worst period of his life; wrestling on drugs
In the same interview, Jeff recalled a match he had with Sting at TNA Victory Road 2011.
This event is ed for Hardy's terrible performance as he was in no condition to fight due to his drug use. The wrestler couldn't even stand and his entrance to the ring was stumbling and he wore a blank stare.
Eric Bischoff, TNA's Creative Developer, had to go to the ring to improvise and tell Jeff in his ear: "Finish this as soon as possible and get the hell out of here. The match lasted only 1 minute and 28 seconds and Jeff was suspended and sent to mandatory rehab.
"I was a zombie, nobody could find me that day, I'm so embarrassed to see that video. It was good for me. It helped me heal," said Hardy.
