I've been sleepless for days studying Rockstar for the second GTA 6 trailer and I think I know when it might arrive

Thesecond GTA 6 trailer is driving us all crazy. If a few days ago we thought it would be released onDecember 27, the absence of any prior announcement has dashed our hopes.

This is why I have taken the time to study in detail the release dates of all their previous trailers. That is, those of GTA 5 and RDR2. Why? To try topredict what Rockstar's next move will be regarding Grand Theft Auto 6.

GTA V, the precedent for Grand Theft Auto 6

Let's start with the most direct precedent: GTA V. Like the new Grand Theft Auto, it kept us without too many cinematics for a long time. Rockstar likes to play tricks, as we can see by taking a look at its timeline.

• October 25, 2011: without warning, Rockstar's official website was updated with the official name and logo of the game. Only one image appeared announcing the date of the first trailer.
• November 2, 2011: first GTA V trailer.
• November 14, 2012: second GTA V trailer.
• April 30, 2013: Three trailers are released: Michael's, Franklin's and Trevor's. The three characters were introduced at the same time.
• July 9, 2013: First gameplay trailer.
• August 15, 2013: Online trailer.
• August 29, 2013: Launch trailer.
• September 17, 2013: Grand Theft Auto 5 launches on PS3 and Xbox 360.

As you can see, more than a year ed between the first and second trailer. With GTA 6 we are still waiting even longer between them. However, this helps us to understand a little how Rockstar works in of promotion.

In fact, if we look at it, several months between the second and third trailers. The waits are long, although in this case they livened it up by showing the characters, gameplay and online. In any case, this brief list shows quite clearly the times in which they usually work.

With its other major release, we see a similar strategy. This reinforces the idea that Rockstar likes the idea of releasing few trailers, which is unusual in this day and age. It's very common now to show a lot, but it seems that they don't like it.

• October 16, 2016: Rockstar changes its Twitter cover.
• October 18, 2016: Rockstar announces the game.
• October 20, 2016: First RDR2 trailer.
• September 28, 2017: Second trailer. Release date confirmed: October 26, 2018.
• May 2, 2018: third trailer.
• August 9, 2018: first gameplay trailer.
• October 1, 2018: second gameplay trailer.
• October 18, 2018: Launch trailer.
• October 26, 2018: RDR2 launches on PS4 and Xbox One.

If we pay attention, we will see that between the first and second trailer there is just under a year, while the second and third trailer is about seven months. The wait is again quite long, but it unlocks the situation.

Four months later, we see its gameplay for the first time, and during the launch month we are offered three other videos. Something quite similar happened with GTA 5, which shows that Rockstar doesn't really let go until the final phase of release.

What will happen to the second GTA 6 trailer?

If Rockstar had followed the same editorial line, the second trailer would have been released between November and December 2024, so we see a change in its strategy. This makes it difficult to make accurate predictions.

However, after closely examining its style, I have come to certain conclusions. Firstly, Rockstar usually releases a second trailer several months before the most intense phase of promotion. If we take into that it is dated for summer 2025, we could expect the second trailer between February and March 2025.

Coinciding with the game's launch countdown, I estimate that a third trailer would be released in May 2025, which would coincide with the strategy of both GTA V and RDR2. The problem is that since we only have a window, not a date, it is difficult to place them.

For example, if it arrives in September 2025, we could expect the first gameplay trailer to arrive in June 2025, while the launch trailer could be released in July 2025.

In fact, seeing that Rockstar likes to work with the months of September and October, I venture to say that its release date would fall in the ninth month of the year. It would be the most logical thing to do if they do not suffer any kind of delay.
