Michael Phelps reaches another milestone

By winning the 200 metres Individual Medley at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, swimmer Michael Phelps has become the first in his field to clinch four successive gold medals in the same event with a time of 1:54.66.

With his 15th victory at the Games, Phelps may well go down as the greatest Olympian of all time, but at the age of 31, he may not get the chance to add to his impressive tally.

Fellow American and traditional rival, Ryan Lochte, Brazilian Thiago Pereira and the other heavyweights in the sport, failed to clinch a medal and may see their time at the top coming to an end.

One achievement that may Phelps by is the world record, held by Lochte, with his time falling short of the fastest ever at, which stands at 1:54.00.

Japan's Kosuke Hagino took the silver medal with a time of 1:56.61, while China's Wang Shun won bronze in 1:57.61.
