As Coach Prime's younger son Shedeur was drafted in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns, his older brother Shilo went undrafted.
That moment became a turning point for Shilo Sanders, who decided to part ways with his father as an agent and hand his future to one of the most powerful dealmakers in sports in Drew Rosenhaus.
"Dad was our agent, but that hasn't been working out too good. So today I had to sign with an agent," Shilo said during his draft day livestream.
The 24-year-old safety, who had been broadcasting the entire draft, abruptly signed off, saying: "Alright y'all, I got to go talk to (my father), I got to go get on a team real quick, I'll be right back."
A short time later, Rosenhaus called and Shilo had found his team-the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who offered him an undrafted free agent deal. It was a silent victory at first.
He did a little dance away from the camera, then called back in to finish the stream and share the news. His confidence never wavered.
A fresh start in Tampa
Shilo Sanders has made a strong first impression in Tampa Bay. During rookie minicamp, he reportedly carried himself like a seasoned veteran, drawing praise from Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles.
Bowles, who has two sons playing college football-Todd Jr. at Long Island and Troy Bowles, who recently transferred from Georgia to Michigan-understood Deion Sanders' perspective as a father.
That led to a direct conversation with Coach Prime about their plans for Shilo. It was a gesture that didn't go unnoticed.
"To have a guy like that, that I could just go talk to whenever and learn football and he also helped me get this opportunity," Shilo said of Bowles. "And I just want to make everybody proud, especially coach Bowles."
The feeling appears mutual. Bowles was especially impressed with Shilo's footwork, calling it "maybe the most impressive" among the rookie safeties.
New agent, new team, new mindset
Rosenhaus, who has negotiated over $10 billion in contracts and represented stars across the league, adds both leverage and legitimacy to Shilo Sanders' NFL aspirations.
While Deion's influence was instrumental in shaping his son's college career, the professional world called for a new approach-and Shilo responded with a strategic move that is already paying dividends.
