LeSean McCoy has bad news for the San Francisco 49ers. After analyzing the contract the Niners recently signed with quarterback Brock Purdy, the running back turned analyst, who once shared the field with Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, asserted that the team ruined their chances of winning a Super Bowl.

"Shady" McCoy is a legend in his own right. In his 12-year career, the former running back got six Pro Bowl nods, was named First-Team All-Pro twice, and was the NFL's leading rusher in 2013. He can also boast of having played with the two greatest of all time.

Moreover, the former running back enjoyed back-to-back Super Bowl wins with each of them: Super Bowl LIV with Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs and Super Bowl LV with Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With this resume, it's safe to say McCoy knows what it takes to win a championship, and unfortunately for the Niners, he doesn't see it in Purdy.

The Niners tied themselves up

In his segment on the Fox Sports show "The Facility," McCoy dissected the five-year, $265 million contract Purdy recently signed with San Francisco, asserting that the only way the young signal-caller can justify his paycheck is to win a Super Bowl but that same contract will prevent them from doing so.

McCoy revived criticism that Purdy is merely a game manager, recalling that team owner Jed York acknowledged that Purdy is a good player when "you combine him with the coach, and you combine him with the team, and this is what he has, a good player."

The problem is that with the massive contract, "The defense is not going to be the same. The offense would not be the same," McCoy warned, also noting that Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk are injured, implying there is no cap space to hire adequate replacements.

Purdy isn't good enough

Shady itted that Purdy has already reached two Conference Championships and a Super Bowl, but he doesn't believe he can win a championship. "So I'll say y'all, this contract will not be justifiable, because they will not be going back to a Super Bowl any time soon, and he is not a good enough player to carry a team that's not that talented."

The deal will give Purdy an average salary of $53 million per season, just below Tua Tagovailoa, above Justin Herbert, and on par with Jared Goff. The problem for the Niners, according to McCoy, is that the investment won't be worth it.
