The San Francisco 49ers' George Kittle thinks he has the New York Jets' Aaron Rodgers sniffed out ahead of their September 9 clash in the opening round of the 2024/25 NFL season on Monday Night Football.
Rodgers, despite ing the Jets in 2023, is effectively making his debut in green and white after suffering a season-ending injury almost a year ago against the Buffalo Bills, making his level of performance an interesting wildcard for the season.
But the 49ers' tight end, who played in their Super Bowl LVIII defeat in Las Vegas, thinks Rodgers' cool demeanor and avoidance of questions from the Up & Adams Show is all just for PR and the 40-year-old is playing the media game.
"I think what he's doing is just great PR," Kittle also told the Up & Adams show. "And he downplays it as much as he possibly can to limit the storylines.
"Just so the Jets can go out there and focus on playing football and beating the 49ers."
Rodgers, now into his fourth decade of life, is quite unknown heading into 2024 after sitting out the entirety of 2023 with a torn Achilles tendon but if he can recover his 2022 form then the New York Jets are in for a treat.
Then with the Green Bay Packers, the 2010 Super Bowl champion posted 26 touchdowns from 3695 yards with 350 completions from 542 attempts, allowing just 12 interceptions. That would be a considerable step up from Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle's 2023 efforts.
When do the 49ers face the Jets?
As mentioned, the San Francisco 49ers will kick off their defense of the NFC Conference Championship against the New York Jets in Week 1's Monday Night Football at the Levis Stadium.
The game will kick off at 20:20 ET/17:20 PT with Deebo Samuel, Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and Kittle looking to get the better of Rodgers' Jets and their defense.
