Mike Tomlin's team remains one of the preferred destinations for the former league MVP, though nothing is set in stone, especially since the quarterback's decision has yet to surface or show any signs of emerging.

If the Steelers go after a quarterback, it will be this one...

Forget Jaxon Dart or Jalen Milroe-that's how ESPN's Adam Schefter sees it, believing the Pittsburgh Steelers would only consider one quarterback in the first round of the NFL Draft.

And that would be none other than Shedeur Sanders, who they say the team would take a chance on if he's within their reach, betting on him as a future cornerstone.

'I was of the mind that Pittsburgh was not taking a quarterback in Round 1,' Schefter said. 'I think the only quarterback that they would consider, me reading between the lines, would be Shedeur. But I can't imagine he's going to slide to 21. Would Pittsburgh be willing to trade up to a certain point to go get Shedeur Sanders if he gets past those other spots?'

There's been plenty of speculation about where Shedeur Sanders will be picked. The Colorado Buffaloes star finished eighth in Heisman voting after throwing for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns last season.

Previously, there was talk of him being among the top three picks, but now predictions have him slipping, potentially even past No. 20.

'If the Browns don't take Shedeur Sanders at two, and if the Giants don't take Shedeur Sanders at three-and that's the sense I'm getting lately-where is Shedeur Sanders going?'

'I think the two spots you look at today, three weeks out-and this is a fluid process, and it changes-but today, I'm looking at the New Orleans Saints at No. 9 and the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21, who never, ever would've thought Shedeur would slide to them. And he probably still won't, but there was a time when we said Aaron Rodgers wouldn't slide to 23-he was going to go number one-and he wound up sliding on draft day, all the way to number 23.'

Aaron Rodgers remains a viable option for now, but what would happen if they choose Sanders? Bringing in a rookie quarterback wouldn't make much sense, especially given the investment it would require. To find out how this unfolds, we'll have to wait.
