Aaron Rodgers isn't holding back. Following Mike Williams' exit, the New York Jets quarterback is determined to reshape the team's receiving corps, pushing for the addition of a surprising new target alongside Davante Adams.

The Jets' first half of the season was rocky, with a narrow 23-20 Week 5 loss to the Buffalo Bills leading to significant changes. The defeat, which included a late-game interception off a deep to Williams, marked a turning point.

Following the game, both head coach Robert Saleh and Williams exited the team, with Williams being tradedto the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2025 fifth-round pick.

Now, Rodgers has a clear candidate in mind to fill the vacancy: the up-and-coming receiver Irvin Charles.

Rodgers' pick for the receiver room

With Williams out and Allen Lazard sidelined due to injury, Rodgers recently urged head coach Jeff Ulbrich to give more snaps to Charles.

Though initially undrafted in 2022 and primarily a special teams player, Charles made an impression on Rodgers during training camp, showing potential in limited reps as a receiver.

Should Rodgers' suggestion be implemented, the Jets' receiving lineup could soon feature Charles alongside Adams, Garrett Wilson, Malachi Corley, and Xavier Gipson-offering Rodgers a fresh set of weapons to revitalize the offense.

Can the Jets turn it around?

Currently sitting at 3-6 and second in the AFC East, the Jets' playoff aspirations may seem bleak. However, a Week 9 victory over the Houston Texans has breathed some hope back into the team.

With eight games remaining, a postseason push is still technically within reach, but the Jets will need to continue their momentum as they face the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Week 10.
