New York Jets star Aaron Rodgers hit out at suggestions he was behind the organization's decision to fire Robert Saleh, saying he "resents" the claims as the head coach lost his job on October 8.

Saleh's last game at the helm was a 23-17 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday as Woody Johnson finally decided to pull the plug on his three year tenure in charge, despite the 2-3 team's only underwhelming loss being against the Denver Broncos.

There are conspiracy claims that Rodgers, the star quarterback, pressured the owner to get rid of Saleh as Bill Belichick waits on the sidelines, however the 40-year-old sensationally hit back at them,

"As far as any of the ridiculous allegations out there, I'm not gonna spend more than one sentence in response to it," Rodgers said to The Pat McAfee Show. "And that is that I resent any of those accusations.

"Because they are patently false. It's interesting the amount of power that people think that I have, which I don't. I love Robert."

The next era for the New York Jets

The decision could spell a new era for the Jets with reports they are due to try to make a trade for the Las Vegas Raiders' Davante Adams, who put in a request to leave the Allegiant Stadium at the start of October.

It would see Rodgers reunite with the star following their successful synergy at the Green Bay Packers' Lambeau Field from 2014-2022, but now it could get even sweeter if the Jets push to bring Belichick to the MetLife Stadium too.

The 72-year-old is still an active coach, despite being unemployed since leaving the New England Patriots, and had shopped around for a new role in the offseason although all attempts came up sort for one reason or the other.

Belichick won six Super Bowls with the Patriots as their head coach and unofficial general manager, and ensured he got the best out of Tom Brady throughout the quarterback's legendary career. Could he work that magic with Rodgers too?
