Aaron Rodgers' New York Jets career got off to the worst possible start anyone could have imagined. After running out of the tunnel with the American flag during the 2023 season and home opener, Rodgers saw his season cut short just a few plays into the game. Despite constant rumors he could get back on the field before the end of the year, his torn Achilles was too much to overcome.

That type of injury has the potential to end many players' careers. Rodgers is fortunate his position doesn't involve a ton of movement and agility, but it's fair to wonder how much of his elite talent is sapped by it, especially at 40 years old.

Aaron Rodgers dreams of retiring with New York Jets

Appearing on Pardon My Take recently, Rodgers was transparent when asked when he'll retire and he has a date in mind; as long as he succeeds with the Jets.

I don't know. I'm not sure. This one for sure... I wanted to do two good ones to give us a chance to retire a Jet. You know, win two Super Bowls. Of course [I'd love to retire like that].

Rodgers would be 42 years old by the time that happens, so it seems logical. There's the question of whether his body will hold up. Thankfully, the Jets made additions to the offensive line during the offseason to try to keep Rodgers upright in 2024.

There's also the question of whether he and the Jets will be good enough to get that far. Head coach Robert Saleh is on the hot seat heading into this season, and the team needs to play better overall.
