The New York Giants have dropped Daniel Jones from the starting quarterback role and given the nod to Tommy DeVito after a series of poor performances that's derailed the team's season once again.

Currently last in the NFC East with a 2-8 record, which is also the t-second worst in the NFL, the organization has had a dismal time throughout the 2024/25 season and Jones is partially to blame, having ed for just eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.

At the moment, he's on course for the worst season of his career (minimum of 10+ games) and as a result has lost his starting spot to the 26-year-old DeVito, who went undrafted in 2023 after playing for Syracuse and Illinois.

DeVito appeared in six games as a starter in 2023 and maintained a .500 record with three wins, whilst he also appeared in three more games from the bench, tossing for 1101 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions.

He ended up as the second-most used QB by the Giants that season, behind Tyrod Taylor, who has since moved on to the New York Jets, who share MetLife Stadium in New Jersey with them.

Jones' miserable end with the Giants

When Jones was drafted in 2019 from the Duke Blue Devils, he was a highly-rated pick, but has never quite managed to put it together and can often be found giving up easy turnovers and errors.

The mistakes are not what Joe Schoen, general manager, had in mind when he signed him to a four-year $160m deal in 2022 after leading them to their first NFL Playoffs victory since the 2011 season.

And now not only are the fans tired of the underwhelming performances but so are the executives as they finally pull the plug on his time as a starter.

And they have a financial incentive too, considering if he is injured and misses a medical in March 2025, the cost to release him rises from $22m to $45m. However, Schoen denies the motivation is money-driven.
