Miami Dolphins chosen for historic NFL game at the Bernabeu: 'See you in Madrid!'

It was an open secret, but it is now official: the Dolphins will be the home team at the Santiago Bernabeu for the first NFL game in Spanish territory.

The Miami franchise was the heavy favorite to be chosen as it holds the rights (along with the Chicago Bears) to marketing in Spain and has finally confirmed its presence in Madrid for the 2025/2026 season.

The exact date is still unknown and it seems that we will have to wait until the Super Bowl to know all the details. However, it is not unreasonable to think that the match will be played during one of the FIFA international breaks. One of these three weekends should be noted: September 6-7, October 11-12 and November 15-16.

To find out the Dolphins' opponent, we will also have to wait a few weeks, although what is certain is that it will be one of these nine teams: Bills, Patriots, Jets, Ravens, Bengals, Saints, Buccaneers, Chargers and Commanders. The NFL has already unveiled the opponents for each of its teams for next season and these will be the ones who will visit Miami (and Madrid in this case).

What about the Dolphins' opponent?

It could even be more precise about the second team in the clash at the Bernabeu. It would be quite strange for the NFL to decide to take a divisional game outside its borders, so the Bills, Patriots and Jets would be out of the equation.

The Dolphins remain a competitive team despite missing the playoffs this season. Led by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and with the future of their superstar Tyreek Hill up in the air, they could be back in the hunt if they get it right in the front office.
