- NFL. Tua Tagovailoa's risky tackle against Rams has fans holding their breath: What was he thinking?
After suffering his third concussion in two seasons, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa faced a wave of speculation about whether he should consider ending his NFL career. Yet, for Tagovailoa, stepping away from the game was never on the table.
Following his head injury during a Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills, rumors swirled about his future in the sport.
The quarterback, who had already dealt with multiple concussions the previous season, has been a point of concern for fans and analysts alike.
However, Tagovailoa has addressed the issue in an interview, stating that his doctors never advised him to consider retirement, and he was committed to continuing his career regardless.
"It never stuck in my mind that I was ever thinking of retiring," Tagovailoa told ESPN. "Whether the doctors told me that or not, it would have just been information for me.
"Honestly, they would just ask me how I felt about everything and from there, it was just testing, testing, and continued questions.
"If they were to tell me that I couldn't play, I would have definitely taken that into consideration, but there were no talks like that."
Worked hard for comeback
Throughout his recovery, Tagovailoa collaborated closely with the team's medical staff, focusing on a safe return to the field.
He made his comeback on October 27 but faced a tough stretch with consecutive losses to the Cardinals and Bills.
However, he led the Dolphins to a victory over the Rams shortly after, completing 20 out of 27 es and helping his team to improve their season record.
With his focus now on staying injury-free for the rest of the season, Tagovailoa is ready to put his head injuries behind him and hopes others can do the same.
