Just when Chargers fans and of the organization where feeling good about their team with a new head coach and a new way of going by, with a working wide receiving core that is seemingly getting to another level just before the start of preseason, the reality is that great concerned has invaded everyone after today's news.

The Bolts announced this Thursday that Justin Herbert was diagnosed with an injury to the plantar fascia in his right foot, something that according to the team, "doctors have recommended approximately two weeks in an orthopedic boot, followed by a gradual return to games protocol."

Even if he returns for the start of the regular season, mobility could be an issue because those injuries prevent players from using their abilities to the full extent. Just because he could play, it doesn't he can be 100% and that would be a big blow for Jim Harbaugh's team.

Justin Herbert is the leader of the team, by far

The expectation is that Justin Herbert will be ready for Week 1 of the 2024 NFL Season, which Los Angeles opens on September 8 at home against the Las Vegas. The Raiders are a team against the Bolts' quarterback has had outstanding performances and looks to have another, however with the style of game plan his new coach has and considering he will be coming off an injury, it is highly likely that the running game will be a big part of the team's offense, as expected.

Herbert, 26, sat out the final four games of last season due to a finger injury; before that, he had started 62 consecutive games. In 2023, the star completed 65% of his es for 3,134 yards, 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions, making him clearly the offensive pillar of the team.

For now, the Chargers will have to stick to a quarterback rotation in the preseason that includes Easton Stick, Max Duggan and Casey Bauman. They open their preparation games against the Seattle Seahawks next Saturday.
