It's highly likely that the Las Vegas Raiders will look vastly different from the team we've seen in past seasons. After an impressive 2025 NFL Draft, all eyes are on superstar running back Ashton Jeanty, their top pick from Boise State, who has already sparked excitement among one of Tom Brady's key players.
Maxx Crosby Thrilled About Ashton Jeanty's Arrival
Jeanty, the top running back prospect in the draft, capped his college career with a historic final season at Boise State. It was no surprise that Raider Nation welcomed him with open arms, but he also received a warm reception from one of the team's cornerstones, defensive end Maxx Crosby.
Crosby shared his electrified reaction to Jeanty's selection in the draft on the latest episode of his podcast, The Rush.
"On Wednesday, when I got back to the crib, I was like, 'Bro, the f... Jags,'" Crosby said, referring to rumors that the Jacksonville Jaguars might select Jeanty one spot ahead of the Raiders.
"I was like, 'These guys are going to try to take him, aren't they?' I was thinking, 'Man, I'll be so pissed.' But then we ended up getting him. It worked out. It was a real, genuine reaction when it happened."
Crosby got to know the former Boise State star during the draft process and didn't hide his excitement about sharing the locker room with the running back and what he'll bring to the team.
"I've known Jeanty for a few months now," he said. "I shot him a text and said, 'Can't wait to go to war with you. This is happening.' He replied, 'Yeah, man, we'll see what happens, but I'd love to be a Raider.' It wasn't like I was spilling a surprise, because you never know what's going to happen. In my mind, I was manifesting it, and it fell into place perfectly. Little moments like that are awesome."
It's no secret that the Raiders ranked near the bottom of the NFL in rushing stats last season, so Jeanty is poised to be the key asset to turn the franchise's ground game around.
While Crosby is ecstatic to have Jeanty on the team, he also promised to push him to the limit in practice-and likely deliver a few hard hits to welcome the rookie to the NFL.
