There could be a lot of changes coming for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2025. Although some of them were more than likely to happen even if the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIX, a brutal loss to the Philadelphia Eagles could change some of the plans as well. The main story of the offseason is bound to be Travis Kelce's future with the team, as the legendary tight end weighs retirement or another run at a Super Bowl.

Then there are the major contributors that the team is set to lose to free agency unless they free up some cap space. Trey Smith, Nick Bolton and Justin Reid could all be on their way out, which would shake up the core of the team. Thankfully for Kansas City, they will have continuity in the two most important areas of football: at head coach and quarterback. Patrick Mahomes will come back with a fire lit under him, while Andy Reid has confirmed he'll be back in 2025.

Pete Carroll sures Andy Reid as oldest head coach in the NFL

There were doubts about whether Reid would return, but he has made no mention of retirement in recent years. The reasoning behind all of the questions about a potential retirement is due to Reid's age. He's now 66 years old, but he can thank Pete Carroll for supplanting him as the oldest head coach in the NFL.

Carroll ing the Las Vegas Raiders means the AFC West has four of the six oldest head coaches in the league. It's an interesting note, but one that could signal a tough division for the Chiefs going forward. Jim Harbaugh and Sean Payton had very solid 2024 seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos, respectively.

The Raiders are in flux, but if anyone can bring stability, it's Carroll. 66 is by no means that old, but Reid may have to work harder than usual in 2025 and beyond. It's fair to wonder when he deems it too tough of a task to expend his energy.
