The days are counting down, and we are now only a few moments away from Super Bowl LIX taking place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles is a supremely exciting one for several reasons; mainly, both teams have established winning ways and are extremely talented.
Given the high-profile players on both teams, there are plenty of storylines on both sides. When these two teams met a couple of years ago, there was no bigger story than Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce facing each other in the biggest game of all. This time around, it will only be Travis on the field, something that he clearly seems to lament.
Jason Kelce will be in New Orleans but not on the field for Super Bowl LIX
Kelce spoke to the media on Monday night and was asked about his brother and whether he will be in attendance. Travis says "of course", then delves into a bit more detail about his retirement.
I'll never forget, obviously it's being so close to him retiring. I wish he would have played another year, but you know, he's very content where he is in life right now and I'm happy to help.
Despite that, Travis its it was ultimately the right decision because "he gets to be around his family girls a little bit more".
Jason retired during last year's offseason, right after the 2023 season in which the Eagles got bounced from the playoffs very quickly. Kelce had come back to the team for another run at a championship, but the team was flawed.

If he would have come back for one more year, he would have played in Super Bowl LIX against Travis and the Chiefs. It would have been a chance at revenge for Super Bowl LVII, in which Travis kept Jason from picking up a second ring.
It doesn't sound like Jason regrets his decision, though. He's been able to spend much more time with his family, got a new job at ESPN and continues to crush it with his podcast.
