- NFL. Travis Kelce sparks fury with taunting incident: Fans call for punishment before Super Bowl
He may have a bunch of haters, but it's clear as day to any fan that we are witnessing true greatness with Patrick Mahomes. Winning an MVP at 23 years old was impressive. Winning a Super Bowl at 24 even more so. But having made it to five Super Bowls in seven seasons as a starter feels unfathomable.
Given his overwhelming success before even turning 30 years old, there really aren't any historical parallels to draw with other players. The only one that comes to mind is Tom Brady, the only player to reach a whopping 10 Super Bowls and win seven of them. But even Brady would tell you that Mahomes is ahead of him at the same respective point in their careers. Therein lies the problem, at least for Brady's New England Patriots teammate Julian Edelman.
Julian Edelman needs to see Patrick Mahomes deal with adversity before Tom Brady comparison
Edelman made an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday and explained that there's a huge difference between Mahomes and Brady: longevity.
He's just got to do it for a long time. He's on pace. This is remarkable. If he goes out and does three in a row in a salary cap era. You can't say much... The only difference is the longevity. Tom had like three careers. Patrick's been doing that his whole career, but it'll be interesting for me to see the next chapter of Patrick Mahomes when some sort of adversity comes along.
Edelman wonders if Mahomes will be able to sustain his success once Travis Kelce and Chris Jones ultimately retire within the next few seasons. He wants to see if Mahomes can redefine his game when needed, something that he its it took Brady 10 years to do before making his next Super Bowl appearance.

Edelman mentions Brady having to deal with "murders, back surgeries, gates" while with the Patriots, and being able to shrug all of that to the side and come out on the other side unscathed.
