Billy Eichner recently shared a hilarious misunderstanding he had with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce at an Oscars afterparty hosted by Madonna earlier this year. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Eichner delivered the comical story that quickly won over the audience.
Eichner began by describing how Kelce enthusiastically approached him in the midst of Hollywood's biggest stars.
"All of a sudden, I feel this very strong, bro-y pat on my back," Eichner said, noting that at 6'3, he rarely has to look up to greet someone. But standing before him was Travis Kelce-NFL star and Taylor Swift's boyfriend-beaming with excitement.
What caught Eichner off guard, however, was Kelce's unexpected mix-up. With booming confidence, Kelce greeted him.
"Jimmy on the motherf**ing Street! I love you, man," Kelce exclaimed.

However, Kelce had mistakenly referenced Billy on the Street, Eichner's popular comedy show. Despite the error, Eichner itted he couldn't bring himself to correct Kelce.
"He looked so happy to see me. I could tell he was a fan."

Throughout the evening, Eichner said Kelce continued to greet him with fist bumps every time they crossed paths.
"I don't want to stereotype gay men, but I don't ordinarily communicate via fist bump," Eichner joked.
The Lion King actor also speculated that Kelce might have confused him with Jimmy Kimmel Live host Jimmy Kimmel, who was also at the party. However, Kimmel disagreed, saying Kelce hadn't spoken to him at all.
Eichner ended the story with a playful jab, imagining how he might've teased Kelce by mixing up Swift's name.
"It would have been funny if I turned to her and said, 'Oh my God, Sara Bareilles, I love you,'" he laughed.
Before wrapping up, Eichner extended an invitation to Kelce to him for a special episode of Billy on the Street. Kimmel chimed in.
"That way we can really confuse him."
Eichner's hilarious encounter highlights the joy of unexpected celebrity moments and left fans eager to see if Kelce takes him up on the offer.
