Donna Kelce, mother of NFL stars Travis and Jason Kelce, has added a new title to her resume: actress. The 72-year-old recently made her acting debut in two Hallmark Channel holiday films: Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, set in Kansas City, and Christmas on Call, filmed in Philadelphia.
"It was so awesome," Donna shared during an interview at Arrowhead Stadium on Nov. 29. "There were so many fantastic Hallmark veterans, and I just had a blast learning from all of them."
In Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, Donna plays the manager of a barbecue restaurant who doles out sage advice to the main characters, played by Hallmark stars Tyler Hynes and Hunter King. The movie centers on a love story between the Chiefs' director of fan engagement and a die-hard fan.
The Kansas City setting made the experience even more special for Donna. "It was so much fun to film at the stadium where I've spent the past 11 years," she said.
A hit with her grandkids
Donna's grandkids were especially thrilled to see her on screen in Christmas on Call. "They kept saying, 'Play it back! We want to see DeeDee!'" Donna said with a smile, referring to her nickname as a grandmother.
She shares three granddaughters with her son Jason Kelce and his wife, Kylie: Wyatt, Elliotte, and Bennett.
Praise from co-stars
Donna's warmth and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on her Hallmark co-stars. "She's just so sweet," said Hunter King. "It was like having a mom on set." Tyler Hynes echoed the sentiment, adding, "Donna was such a natural presence. She even asked us to write a note for Travis to leave in his locker!"
The movie also features cameos from several Kansas City Chiefs players, Head Coach Andy Reid, and other stars, including Jenna Bush Hager and Christine Ebersole.
Don't miss the premiere
Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story premieres Saturday, Nov. 30, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Hallmark Channel. With Donna Kelce's heartfelt performance and a lineup of beloved Hallmark actors, this is one holiday film you won't want to miss.
