Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Tershawn Wharton became an unexpected hero after catching a fan who fell out of the stands during the Chiefs' victory over the Carolina Panthers.
As Wharton was leaving the field, he was tossing his gloves to fans when a child, wearing a Nick Bolton jersey, reached out to grab them.
The child subsequently tripped and fell headfirst over the edge of the lower bowl, sparking panic in those close to the potential disaster.
In a split second, Wharton caught the boy and helped him back into the stands. Wharton called it a "natural reaction" and added that he hopes to connect with the fan in the future and make sure he is okay.
