Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has had a tumultuous few weeks, both on and off the field. On October 6, his sprawling estate in Belton, Missouri, was broken into, with burglars stealing personal items such as jerseys, awards, and memorabilia.
Brittany Mahomes, his wife, also reported that jewelry and designer handbags were among the stolen items.
Just hours later, teammate Travis Kelce's home in Leawood, Kansas, was also burglarized, compounding the unsettling series of events. Both incidents remain under investigation as authorities work to identify those responsible.
The latest incident before the Bills clash
The challenges didn't stop there. Ahead of the Chiefs' matchup against the Buffalo Bills, a puppet resembling Kermit the Frog wearing a Patrick Mahomes jersey was seen hanging in Buffalo.
The stunt, referencing an ongoing joke about Mahomes' voice, was widely criticized for its inappropriate and disturbing nature.
According to reports, Brittany Mahomes found the act particularly upsetting, and even Taylor Swift reached out to offer her , labeling the gesture "disturbing."
"Considering the recent burglaries and then to have this stunt with Kermit happen goes to show all of them that they really need to be vigilant when it comes to their security," an inside told the Daily Mail.
"They would all like to find out who did this, and footage should reveal it. Not to press charges, per se, but just to know that it was nothing more sinister than a joking Bills fan."
The unsettling atmosphere seemed to carry into Sunday's game, where the Chiefs suffered their first loss of the season in a 30-23 defeat to the Bills.
Mahomes threw for 196 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions, marking an uncharacteristic performance for the star quarterback.
The Chiefs, now 9-1, will aim to bounce back in their next game against the Carolina Panthers on November 24.
