The Kansas City Chiefs may soon have some important players back on the field, as head coach Andy Reid provided updates on their recoveries in Thursday's pre-practice media session. Running back Isiah Pacheco, sidelined since Week 3 with a fractured fibula near his ankle, is moving along in his rehabilitation process.
Expected to miss six to eight weeks, Pacheco has now hit the six-week mark post-surgery and has been actively working on his recovery, occasionally sharing updates with fans online. Reid confirmed that Pacheco has been regularly present at team facilities as he progresses through his rehab.
"He's getting there, but he's doing fantastic," Reid said. "I mean, he's really doing well, but we just, you know, between the trainers and doctors and all that's got a that's out of my hands there. But he's getting there, he's making great progress."
Omenihu's progress
Similarly, defensive end Charles Omenihu, recovering from last season's ACL injury and still on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, is also making steady progress. Reid indicated that Omenihu is awaiting final medical clearance to participate in practice again.
"Charles is doing a good job, working his tail off," Reid noted. "Again, the surgeons that do their jobs, they have the feel of it, and so they're constantly evaluating these guys. And you know, when they're when they're ready to go, they're ready to go. I mean, that's that's a look at. But he's getting closer - to answer both your questions - both of them are [getting closer]."
Though it's unlikely they'll return by Week 9 or 10, the Chiefs are hopeful both players could be ready by Week 11, when they face a critical matchup against the Buffalo Bills that could influence playoff seeding in the AFC.
