- Kansas City Chiefs. Travis Kelce has a problem that even Taylor Swift cannot help him solve
- San Francisco 49ers. Rob Gronkowski questions George Kittle's leadership after 49ers' tough loss to Vikings
Travis Kelce and George Kittle are two of a kind. Both tight ends were fundamental in their teams reaching Super Bowl LVIII, and Kelce seems eager to meet his colleague again in the next NFL title game.
Eight months after the epic clash between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs in the last Super Bowl, Kittle and Kelce met again this Sunday, in the Week 7 game of the 2024 season.
Both teams came to the matchup decimated by injuries, but in the end, Kelce and the Chiefs managed to overcome their problems to impose a resounding 28-18 victory over Kittle's Niners.
Even though San Francisco is far from being the team that reached that historic Super Bowl, which Kansas City won in overtime, Kelcedoes not want to miss the opportunity to see his colleague again in the title game and made that clear at the end of Sunday's game.
Kelce's greeting to Kittle
At the end of the game at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, Kelce approached Kittle for the traditional handshake, and television cameras captured the Chiefs tight end encouraging Kittle to reach Super Bowl LIX.
"Let's do it again in February, bro," Kelce asked the 49ers star. In good spirits despite the loss, Kittle accepted the invitation from his great rival, saying, "Yeah, I know. Why not."
While neither has talked about retirement, Kelce is 12 years into his career and Kittle is eight, so this could be one of the last opportunities to see both of them fight for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Chiefs and 49ers' chances
Kansas City is not only the reigning champion, but it is the only team left undefeated this season. The win over San Francisco left them with a 6-0 record, proving that despite the injuries that have decimated their roster, they are still the team to beat in the AFC.
On the other hand, the 49ers are having a tough year. Despite this, their 3-4 record has them in second place in the NFC West and just 1.5 games away from a wild-card berth.
If head coach Mike Shanahan can get his team out of the funk, it is very possible that Kelce will see his wish of meeting Kittle again in a battle for the NFL championship come true.
