The Kansas City Chiefs' offense has seen better days. Between declining performance from key players and multiple injuries, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' attack have struggled to put points on the board. However, amid their offensive woes, a ray of hope emerged yesterday: Kareem Hunt's promising return.

Though the Chiefs remain undefeated at 4-0, much of the credit goes to their defense. In Week 4's 17-10 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers, the defense shut down the "Bolts" after the first quarter, allowing just 224 total yards and 55 rushing yards.

Offensively, the Chiefs continue to have trouble finding the end zone. Despite amassing 329 total yards-228 ing and 101 rushing-they only managed two touchdowns and a field goal.

The good news for Kansas City was the resurgence of tight end Travis Kelce, who returned as the team's top receiver, and Kareem Hunt's solid performance. Both Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid were quick to praise the veteran running back in his return to the Chiefs.

Mahomes and Reid heap praise on Hunt

"We went with the hot hand by playing Kareem more," Reid explained at a post-game press conference. While he emphasized that he still has confidence in running backs Carson Steele and Samaje Perine, Reid itted, "We're lucky to have three good guys in there."

Mahomes was equally impressed with Hunt's debut. "I thought he did a great job. For someone to come into an offense-an offense he had been in years ago-and to be able to run the football hard, get well-earned yards, and catch the ball out of the backfield, it was good to see," Mahomes said.

Hunt racked up 69 rushing yards on 14 carries and caught two es for 16 yards. While his performance was impressive, Mahomes hinted that more is expected. "I think he'll get more and more comfortable as the year goes on, and he'll play a bigger role in our offense," Mahomes added.

Hunt's return to Kansas City

Hunt, a product of the University of Toledo, was drafted by the Chiefsin the third round of the 2017 Draft. However, the team released him in 2018 after a video surfaced showing the running back assaulting a woman. While the case didn't move forward, Hunt had to continue his career elsewhere.

In 2019, Hunt ed the Cleveland Browns but was suspended for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy due to the allegations against him. He had a couple of strong seasons with the Browns, though he eventually became Nick Chubb's backup by 2021.

With limited opportunities in Cleveland and the Chiefs needing a replacement for the injured Isiah Pacheco, Hunt's return to Kansas City seemed inevitable. His second stint with the Chiefs has started well, but time will tell if he can maintain this momentum-and stay out of trouble.
