Sunday was a day the Jacksonville Jaguars would like to forget. Not only did they fall to a humiliating 52-6 defeat to the Detroit Lions, but they also lost wide receiver Gabe Davis to a season-ending injury.

The injury took place when the Jags were already behind 42-6, and to make matters worse, Davis' injury was a non- knee injury suffered while trying to sprint away from Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold.

Davis immediately began limping before sitting on the turf and being looked at by the Jacksonville medical staff.

After the game the 25-year-old was seen in a knee brace and using crutches, with NFL insider Ian Rapport reporting he suffered a meniscus tear. The injury will require surgery, and while doctors will have to determine whether the injury requires a full repair or just a trim, his season is over given recovery time can range from three to six months.

Jaguars are having a disastrous campaign

Davis' injury is the latest blow for the Jaguars, who are enduring a nightmare campaign. The humiliating defeat to the Lions saw them fall to 2-9, a far cry from preseason expectations when many pundits picked them to make the playoffs.

The poor campaign has put head coach Doug Pederson's job under threat, with many believing he will be let go at the end of the season given Jacksonville's struggles despite having a franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence.

As for Davis, this was his first season with the Jags after ing in them via free agency on a three-year, $39 million contract back in March.

The wide receiver spent the previous four years with the Buffalo Bills, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of UCF.

Prior to his injury, Davis had 20 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns.
