- NFL. The Buffalo Bills stand alone as favorites in every 2025 NFL matchup
More and more chapters keep unfolding in the Aaron Rodgers saga over the past few months, where the quarterback has yet to define his future, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting for a response on whether he will play for them or not - as time is running out for both sides.
Rodgers could end up not playing in 2025, and given his age (41 years old), retirement is becoming a very real option. As for the Steelers, they would have to start the season with Mason Rudolph as their starting quarterback, significantly reducing their chances of competing in the AFC North.
Throughout his career, Aaron Rodgers has always generated drama during the offseason. When he was with the Green Bay Packers, every year the storyline was whether he would leave the franchise or not. When he finally left two years ago, the saga of g with the New York Jets was also frustrating - but the current situation with the Steelers has sured anything he's done in previous years.
Aaron Rodgers Would Like to Retire as a Green Bay Packer
There is no doubt that Aaron Rodgers is a future Hall of Famer. Despite his many controversies in the NFL, after spending a few years on the bench behind Brett Favre, Rodgers became one of the best quarterbacks - not just in Packers history, but in NFL history.
A product of the University of California, he spent 18 years with the Green Bay Packers before moving to the New York Jets. During that time, Rodgers won only one Super Bowl - in the 2011 season, precisely against the Pittsburgh Steelers. If the opportunity arises to retire as a Packers player, Rodgers will take it.
"There's a lot of love toward me and how I feel about the team. Whether I do it or not [retire as a Packer], I don't think it should make a difference. I'm still not sure. If they approached me with that proposal, I would probably do it," Rodgers said.
Rodgers earned numerous accolades as the Packers' quarterback. He was named NFL MVP four times, won the aforementioned Super Bowl in the 2011 season, was selected countless times to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro teams, among many other achievements. His destiny is undoubtedly the Hall of Fame.
Now Rodgers has the chance to continue playing in the NFL - but it will be with the Pittsburgh Steelers or no one. It's that simple.
