Dez Bryant calls on Cowboys to make g and have the most dangerous offense in the league

Nick Chubb is still searching for his next opportunity in the NFL, and at least one former Dallas Cowboys legend believes that opportunity should come from his old team.

Dez Bryant, one of the most prolific wide receivers in Cowboys history, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts on Chubb's free agency and where he believes the veteran back would thrive.

Despite the injury concerns that have kept Chubb unsigned into the summer, Bryant believes the Cowboys should take a chance - and the payoff could be huge.

"If the Cowboys get (Chubb) and combine him with (Jaydon) Blue... the Cowboys offense will be the most dangerous in the NFL," Bryant wrote.

"I really can't find a con if that happens. Think about it... Blue gets to learn from a dynamic back who plays the game the right way. That's how you mold a young... promising running back."

Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowler and former second-team All-Pro, suffered a devastating knee injury in 2023 that ended his season prematurely. It was yet another setback in a career that's included multiple serious injuries dating back to college.

Still, his production when healthy has been elite - making him a tempting option for a team like Dallas seeking backfield help without breaking the bank.

Injury concerns remain, but Chubb's upside could outweigh the risk

Chubb's value as a free agent is complicated by his medical history. He missed most of last season with a significant knee injury and has also dealt with foot and ligament issues throughout his career.

Teams are understandably cautious, especially with running backs over 28 who have a history of long-term wear and tear.

But when Chubb is right, he's one of the best in the league. In 2022, he rushed for 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns over 17 games - a season that reaffirmed his status as a top-tier back.

If Dallas believes he can approach that level again, they could be getting a high-caliber player at a fraction of the cost.

More importantly, Chubb wouldn't need to shoulder the entire load in Dallas. With rookie Jaydon Blue entering the mix and Tony Pollard now in Tennessee, the Cowboys are exploring different options for their next lead back.

Adding Chubb as a veteran presence to complement Blue's development - and potentially mentor the young rusher - could give Dallas both immediate production and long-term value.

Browns move on as Chubb's next chapter remains uncertain

According to longtime Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot,Cleveland currently has "no plans to re-sign Chubb anytime soon."

She notes that while the door isn't completely closed, the only likely scenario would involve a significant injury elsewhere on the roster or a sudden shift in personnel needs.

"Hopefully someone will offer him the opportunity he deserves, even if it takes an injury to a starter or backup," Cabot added.

That leaves the Cowboys with a decision to make, one that could be low-risk but high-reward. Chubb likely wouldn't command a hefty contract, making him an ideal training camp addition for a team seeking to test his durability and evaluate his fit.

And for Jerry Jones, who has never been shy about headline-grabbing gs, this could be a chance to make a savvy move without major financial risk.

Chubb, who has rushed for over 6,500 yards and 48 touchdowns across six seasons, still has plenty of fans across the league. While doubts persist about whether he can stay healthy, his experience, vision, and leadership make him a unique asset for any team willing to invest - even on a short-term basis.

Dez Bryant's message to the Cowboys is simple: Chubb could be a missing piece. And if he can stay on the field, his presence might help elevate a Dallas offense already filled with weapons.

Whether Jones listens remains to be seen, but for now, the idea has sparked a debate about risk, reward, and one running back's fight to keep his NFL dream alive.
