- NFL. Micah Parsons uses Cooper Flagg to give another hint about his commitment to the Cowboys
The long absence of the Dallas Cowboys from the Super Bowl and their failure in the 2024 season has the franchise once again in the spotlight.
The team's CEO, Stephen Jones, qualified a comment made last year by Jerry Jones, in which his father assured that the organization was completely committed to winning.
"I don't believe any of that. Name me one person who's not completely committed. I would hate for the fans to hear their owner say people aren't completely committed, when you're competing in the NFL... I mean, it's a little bit of a joke. Every year we line up, we're betting big," Stephen Jones told Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.
The Cowboys are in the midst of a rebuild, particularly on offense, from their line with their first NFL Draft selection of Alabama guard Tyler Booker, to their recent trade for George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Cowboys' strategy in the 2025 NFL Draft
For the 2025 NFL Draft, the Cowboys' plan was to use their options to fill holes that would not be available through a trade, so after Booker, they selected quarterback hunter Donovan Ezeiruaku from Boston College, while in the third round they called cornerback Shavon Revel Jr.
"We wanted to make the most of our picks this year. Especially with those first three picks, we didn't want to do anything with them, because we thought we were going to get some really good football players," Jones said, while explaining that "when you're paying players like Dak and CeeDee, you're trying to pay Micah, Diggs and Osa (Odighizuwa), that comes into play. So we really didn't want to give up any of our top three."
