Jerry Jones' CeeDee Lamb problem is about to get worse thanks to non-Cowboys player

We are less than two weeks away from the first game of the 2024 NFL regular season being played. As the clock continues to tick, Dallas Cowboys fans continue to wait on pins and needles for their two most important offensive players to get new contracts.

Dak Prescott is set to become a free agent after this year, yet Jerry Jones and the Cowboys front office don't appear too pressed to get an extension done before September kicks off. CeeDee Lamb will also be a free agent after 2024, and he could be the domino needing to fall to get a deal done with Prescott. But the longer Jones waits, the harder it's becoming.

Ja'Marr Chase getting paid could make Lamb even richer

A big reason for that is Ja'Marr Chase, the star receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals. Chase is threatening to not play this season if he doesn't receive a big contract extension before Week 1.

Chase is still under contract for the next two seasons, but his production speaks for itself. As the market and salary continually expand, Chase is set to break Justin Jefferson's record as the highest-paid wide receiver in the league at $35 million per year.

Jones reportedly offered Lamb $33 million per year recently, but it was rejected. Lamb may know Chase is about to reset the market, and he's going to make Jones dig deep in his wallet because of it. The Bengals need to pay Chase first, though.
