Stephen A. Smith has been talking smack about Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott for quite some time. For the past month, the ESPN talking head has been constantly saying Dak will and has let the impressive Cowboys defense down.
With a highly anticipated matchup against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers coming up this Sunday night, Smith is doubling down on his Prescott-led Cowboys negativity.
2 INTs for Dak Prescott in a Cowboys loss
On Wednesday's edition of First Take, Smith was adamant that the Cowboys will get exposed by the Niners. He's also predicting that Prescott will throw two interceptions during the loss.
Curiously, this isn't the first time Smith has predicted that same number of interceptions for Prescott in a big game. In January, Smith told Prescott's dad on live TV that his son was going to give the ball away twice through the air against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs. He also said the Cowboys would lose.
Instead, Prescott threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns, as the Cowboys crushed the Buccaneers 31-14. Dak did throw two interceptions in the following round in a loss to the 49ers, so maybe that's where Smith got the inspiration for another prediction.
The Cowboys QB has taken on more of a game manager role in 2023, as his defense is on a historical pace and he hasn't had to do much of anything in the Cowboys' three wins. When adversity struck in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals, he took two sacks and threw an interception while his team suffered a shock defeat.
Prescott will likely have to consistently move the chains against the powerhouse Niners, which could lead to more interception risks. We'll see if Smith's prediction comes true.
