- Cleveland Browns. Why did the NFL on Shedeur Sanders? NFL executives break down the reasons behind the shocking decision
- Cleveland Browns. Deshaun Watson delivers a message to Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel: He's not retiring, he's here to compete
From the outset of the rookie minicamp, the atmosphere at the Cleveland Browns' training sessions has been competitive. Shedeur Sanders, a fifth-round pick, surprised everyone by performing better than expected and suring third-round quarterback Dillon Gabriel. Sanders' consistent performance has raised questions about who should lead the franchise's future.
Now that the initial training sessions are complete, Kevin Stefanski's staff is beginning to get a clearer picture of the 2025 outlook. Although evaluations have been mixed, Sanders appears to have a slight lead over Gabriel, according to various media outlets.
Gabriel's outlook is becoming more difficult considering the Browns' strong offensive arsenal, which already boasts the experience of Joe Flacco and the progress of Kenny Pickett and Watson. Sanders could take Gabriel out of the equation. If that puts Gabriel in a bad mood, his legacy at Oregon will soon be forgotten.
Dante Moore is ready to leave Gabriel in the past at Oregon
Under Moore, Oregon's offense looks promising. After a year away, Dante now has the chance to showcase his talent, become the leader at the quarterback position, and render Gabriel's legacy with the Ducks obsolete.
Moore arrived at Oregon from UCLA and, in his first year, threw for 1,600 yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He was sacked 16 times and showed weaknesses in the ing game. In 2024, he completed seven of eight es for 49 yards. Suring Gabriel will be a significant challenge.
"Last year, Gabriel completed 72.9% of his es and racked up over 3,800 yards, 30 touchdowns, and six interceptions in 14 games," said Spencer McLaughlin in "Locked On Ducks," setting high expectations for Dante.
"If Dante Moore wants to reach 4,000 yards in his first year as a starter and outperform Dillon Gabriel's best season, wow! It would be exciting times in Eugene!"
It looks very complicated in the short term, but the pressure will undoubtedly play a role. We'll see how he manages it all because suring Dillon Gabriel will be difficult, especially with such a conditional fan base.
