Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills have to settle for a second-tier receiver to compete with Patrick Mahomes

There's no doubt that one of the current weak spots for the Buffalo Bills is the receiving corps. A year ago, they lost Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, and they haven't recovered since. Last season, they brought in Amari Cooper mid-year, but they couldn't re-sign him for the following season, so the Bills had to look for a weapon in free agency.

Josh Allen's new contract - worth $330 million, with $250 million guaranteed, the largest guaranteed amount ever for a quarterback - has already become a factor, as the Bills haven't been able, and won't be able, to bring in a top-tier receiver due to salary cap constraints. In fact, they didn't even use an early draft pick to select a wide receiver.

The truth is, the Bills with Josh Allen will remain contenders, but we'll see - once the season heats up - whether their thin receiving corps becomes a problem. For now, they've signed Elijah Moore.

Elijah Moore is the New Receiver for the Buffalo Bills

The Bills have reached an agreement to sign wide receiver Elijah Moore to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million, as confirmed by The Associated Press.

Moore was drafted in the second round by the New York Jets four years ago and later played for the Cleveland Browns, where he totaled 120 receptions for 1,178 yards and three touchdowns in 34 games.

Moore will compete for a spot at a position that includes the returning Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Curtis Samuel. Buffalo also added receivers Joshua Palmer and Laviska Shenault in free agency to make up for the departures of Mack Hollins and Amari Cooper.

That's not to say these receivers are bad - in fact, several have great talent, especially Keon Coleman. However, for a quarterback like Josh Allen, this might not be enough, so he'll have to get the most out of this receiving corps to lead the Buffalo franchise back to another Super Bowl, something they haven't achieved in 20 years.
