As the legal case against Sean "Diddy" Combs continues, NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed in the Northern District of California.

The complaint also includes popular content creator Druski (Drew Desbordes) and singer Jaguar Wright. However, Beckham's involvement has drawn significant public attention.

A superstar's career in decline

Beckham last played in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins during the 2024 season, marking his fourth team in as many years. His production dipped significantly, appearing in just nine games and recording only nine catches for 55 yards. Once regarded as one of the league's top wide receivers, his recent years have been plagued by injuries and declining performance.

During the first six seasons of his career, Beckham was an elite playmaker. He sured 1,000 receiving yards in five of those years and scored 48 touchdowns, primarily with the New York Giants.

Drafted 12th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft out of LSU, Beckham made an immediate impact, winning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He earned three consecutive Pro Bowl selections and became famous for his acrobatic catches.

Following his tenure with the Giants, Beckham moved to the Cleveland Browns in 2019, a season in which he last topped the 600-yard receiving mark. Since then, he has struggled to stay on the field, with injuries limiting his playing time. A brief resurgence with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023 saw him record 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns.

Legal troubles could impact Beckham's future

Beckham's inclusion in the lawsuit raises questions about his future in the NFL. While no criminal charges have been filed, the allegations could affect his ability to secure a new contract. At 31 years old, with his production waning and legal uncertainty looming, Beckham's career may be nearing its conclusion.

As of now, Beckham has amassed 575 career receptions for 7,987 yards and 59 touchdowns. Whether he will have the opportunity to add to those numbers remains uncertain.
