Allen Robinson faces uncertainty about his spot on the roster - a situation he's never encountered in his 10-year NFL career.

Despite his extensive experience and accomplishments, he now finds himself in a position where his place on the team is not guaranteed.

New York Giants vs Detroit Lions training camp fight

The New York Giants are in the process of making difficult decisions, with the final roster set to be determined before their season opener against the Minnesota Vikings on September 8 at MetLife Stadium.

On Sunday, the Giants released 12 players, but Robinson remains on the roster for now.

Robinson's career statistics-562 receptions, 7,028 yards, and 43 touchdowns-speak to his talent and experience, making him the most seasoned wide receiver in the Giants' locker room. Despite this, his future with the team is uncertain.

Signed by the Giants in May to a one-year deal worth $1.4 million, with only $25,000 guaranteed, Robinson had to prove his value during the preseason. At 31 years old, he needed to show that he still had something to offer, both in of skill and leadership.

Solid in preaseason

Robinson managed to stay healthy throughout training camp and the preseason, which is no small feat at this stage in his career. However, while he was reliable in his role, he didn't exhibit the explosiveness that once defined his game.

One of Robinson's strongest contributions has been his leadership. In a wide receiver group dominated by young players-Malik Nabers, Jalin Hyatt, and Wan'Dale Robinson all in their early 20s-Robinson's experience has been a valuable asset. With Darius Slayton as the only other veteran presence, Robinson's guidance could be crucial.

In the final preseason game, a 10-6 loss to the Jets, Robinson played 28 of 67 offensive snaps, a sign that his spot on the team is far from secure.

His performance was modest, with a 10-yard gain on an end-around and a four-yard reception on his only target.
