Pat McAfee earned praise from fans after landing one of the NFL's leading writers to his new show, just days after he was fired, following a series of guest appearances but who was he signed?

Fans were shocked to hear that Mark Kaboly was let go by The Athletic after years of service writing on the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he didn't find himself out of work for long as McAfee instantly moved on him.

Kaboly's journalism and reporting was so highly-praised that he even earned the plaudits from the Steelers' offensive coordinator as Arthur Smith described him as "highly regarded" and sure he would go on to more success.

"We've already hired him," McAfee said on his show, when discussing Kaboly's future. "When you see that Kaboly, you know, 'Destined for success.'

"This is a public proclamation that Kaboly's going to be A-OK. He's going to cover the Steelers and the NFL as a whole."

The popular Pittsburgh writer was quickly praised by fans after he revealed the news on X.com, formerly Twitter, on August 14 after The Pat McAfee Show made the announcement live on air with Smith.

One wrote, "Good on you Pat. Happy to see Kaboly bounce back so quickly."

A second added, "Love it. Kaboly will mesh well into the fabric of the group and he will do a great job!"

Whilst a third said, "Let's go! This is awesome news, Kaboly is great."

Who do the Pittsburgh Steelers play first?

The Pittsburgh Steelers, buoyed by Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, head into the 2024/25 NFL season opening against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, September 8 in Week 1.

They will travel to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Georgia where they will look to get the better of Kirk Cousins, with the game kicking off at 13:00 ET/10:00 PT.

The game will be broadcast live by FOX Sports, meaning fans could see the legendary Tom Brady dissecting their plays.
