What started as one of the most stunning and compelling moves in college football history - the legendary Bill Belichick g a five-year deal with the UNC Tar Heels - has drastically gone from bad to worse, with Belichick not even coaching a single college game for North Carolina.
When UNC announced the Belichick g, the hype surrounding the eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach (six as head coach with the Patriots and two as an assistant with the Giants) exploded. Everyone expected he would bring his famed "Patriot Way" of training to the Tar Heels and with that there were many winning seasons to come.
But that expectation quickly fell apart when Jordon Hudson stepped in. Belichick's girlfriend has brought major chaos to the Tar Heels' front office - and especially to media coverage - and now fans are taking drastic measures to get Bill off the team.
Fans want Belichick gone
A recent article by Brendan Marks of The Athletic revealed that UNC has received emails from fans regarding the situation involving Belichick and Hudson. One longtime Tar Heels er wrote to the university's president to express his concerns, according to Marks.
"I am a longtime UNC fan and cannot believe you are stuck with a coach who is clearly being run by a woman who is young enough to be his granddaughter dominating football practice and interviews," the unnamed fan wrote. "It's ridiculous, won't end well, and makes UNC look foolish."
For now, UNC is still counting on the 73 year old as their head coach for next season, and Hudson has been reminded that she does not work for the university.
If the Super Bowl winning HC wants to end this headache with UNC, he only needs to write a 1 million dolar check and he'll be free. Not much for a man that has a 70 million $ net worth.
