A horrific ATV crash in rural Pennsylvania has left former college football standout Julian Fleming seriously injured and claimed the life of his girlfriend, Alyssa Boyd.
The devastating incident occurred in Bradford County, a remote area along the Pennsylvania-New York border, after the couple collided with a deer while riding a Yamaha quad on a rural road.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Fleming and Boyd were not wearing helmets when the accident happened. Boyd suffered catastrophic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Fleming was transported to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities confirmed that a deer was recovered at the scene and is believed to have caused the fatal crash when it darted into the path of the ATV. Police did not release further details about the exact time of the incident, but investigations are ongoing.
Fleming's promising football career overshadowed by tragedy
Julian Fleming rose to prominence as a high school phenom at Southern Columbia High School in Catawissa, Pennsylvania.
Widely regarded as the top wide receiver in the nation in the 2020 recruiting class, he was named the 2019 Pennsylvania Player of the Year by Gatorade and PennLive.
He later committed to powerhouse Ohio State, where he spent four seasons and appeared in 38 games for the Buckeyes, recording 80 catches for 990 yards and seven touchdowns.
After graduating from Ohio State in December 2023, Fleming transferred to Penn State in search of a fresh start and more playing time. However, injuries limited his impact during his lone season in Happy Valley. Despite flashes of brilliance, his production waned in the second half of the 2024 season.
Following the 2025 NFL Draft, Fleming signed as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers. However, just three weeks before the fatal accident, the team rescinded the contract after Fleming failed his physical - a major setback for the once highly-touted wideout who was aiming to launch his professional career.
Alyssa Boyd was a student at the University of Alabama, according to her social media pages.
She was reportedly dating Fleming, with the couple sharing photos and life updates online. The pair appeared to be spending time together in Fleming's home state of Pennsylvania when the accident occurred.
