Deion Sanders' unique colorways sell out 'in 10 minutes': Coach Prime remains an icon to fans

Deion Sanders has always been more than a coach or an athlete-he's a brand, a presence, and a force in sports culture. With the Colorado Buffaloes, he's brought his signature swagger to the sidelines: flashy sunglasses, bold hats, and the kind of magnetic personality that built the Coach Prime persona.

But his influence extends far beyond the field. Sanders is once again making waves in sneaker culture, thanks to a nostalgic Nike drop that sold out almost instantly.

Nike and Sanders have had a long-standing relationship dating back to 1992. Over the years, several of his signature shoes have been re-released, often with great fanfare.

This year, Nike capitalized on Sanders' enduring popularity with the return of the Air DT Max '96, a shoe originally launched during his time with the Dallas Cowboys.

With its eye-catching "claw" design and aggressive '90s styling, the sneaker became an instant fan favorite again-especially with updated colorways inspired by Sanders' current home, the University of Colorado.

But the buzz didn't stop there.

The Air DT Proto '92 drop breaks the internet

In a surprise move, Nike dropped the Air DT Proto '92, a sneaker that had never before been released to the public. The response was explosive. Within 10 minutes of going live on Nike's SNKRS app, the sneakers were completely sold out. Sanders couldn't help but boast a little, posting on Instagram.

"They say I sold out! They had to be talking about my shoes. Sold out on SNKRS in less than 10 minutes."

The rare Proto '92s came in several exclusive colorways, including gold, white, black, and red. One pair was even tagged "confidential," adding to the mystery and demand. Sneakerheads and Sanders fans alike rushed to secure their piece of history.

But the Sanders family sneaker story doesn't end there.

Following in his father's footsteps, Deion's youngest son, Shedeur Sanders, is stepping into the spotlight-literally. Nike recently signed Shedeur to a groundbreaking NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deal, marking the company's first such agreement with a college football player.

"Now it's a family business," Nike wrote in its official announcement.

For Shedeur, the partnership is more than a paycheck-it's personal. On his 2Legendary podcast, he opened up about what the Nike deal means to him.

"I want to build on it. I think it's more about generational," he said, reflecting on his desire to carry forward the family legacy with his own twist.

Already backed by brands like Gatorade, Mercedes-Benz, and SMAC Entertainment, Shedeur's Nike deal is arguably his most meaningful. It ties him directly to the roots his father planted decades ago-on fields, courts, and store shelves.

With Coach Prime back in the sneaker spotlight and Shedeur rising fast, the Sanders family legacy continues to evolve. And whether on turf or in a Nike box, that legacy shows no signs of slowing down.
