- NCAA. Deion Sanders was left freaked out after magician pulls off supernatural trick
Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders has one of his major challenges ahead of him for the fall: to take the Colorado Buffaloes football programs to new heights, and to do it without the team's two biggest superstars.
The Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter got drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars, as the two-way sensation sets to become one of the faces of the NFL. Shedeur Sanders, one of the best college football quarterbacks last season, will fight for a spot on the 53-man final roster for the Cleveland Browns.
Sanders does have a couple of stars on his current roster with Colorado, such as five star quarterback Julian "JuJu" Lewis, Liberty transfer QB Kaidon Salter, and 4-star recruit and MaxPreps National Player of the Year Quentin Gibson, a flashy wide receiver that wants to make history in college football.
Shedeur and Travis break Deion's heart
Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders posted a heartfelt video on his Instagram profile that includes highlights from the Colorado Buffaloes' 2024 regular season, with big plays from then quarterback Shedeur Sanders, cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr., and safety Shilo Sanders.
Deion orchestrated one of the biggest turnarounds in college football history, inheriting a team that went 1-11 and leading it to nine wins and a bowl berth in just two seasons. The Buffaloes under "Coach Prime" are also one of the most-watched teams in sports, attracting over 54 million viewers last year.
"We've just scratched the surface of what this program can be. It's not just about football; it's about developing young men who are ready to take on the world. I'm committed to bringing greatness to this university, on and off the field," Sanders said after he got his contract extended through 2029.
Colorado starts the season at home against Georgia Tech
Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes will begin their journey toward greatness against Georgia Tech on Friday, August 29, a game that will be televised by ESPN. This will continue the Buffs appearances on major national networks at an unprecedented rate in the Sanders era.
"We've got work to do, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but here, making history with these incredible players and this ionate fan base," Deion told the media, reminding the rest of the nation that year three under Colorado's leadership.
The game is the first of a home-and-home that will see the Buffaloes head to Atlanta on September 5, 2026. Colorado is 18-22 against current of the ACC, which includes a combined 11-14 record against California and Stanford, and a 7-8 mark against the other teams in the league.
