Yesterday, the Colorado Buffaloes suffered a 37-21 loss to Kansas, a loss that could significantly impact their chances of being one of the top 12 teams to qualify for the new playoff format. Head Coach Deion Sanders reflected on the setback, saying, "We controlled our own destiny, and we fumbled it." The costly loss means that Colorado no longer fully controls its playoff destiny, though it still has a chance. That chance might not exist if star quarterback Shedeur Sanders had been seriously injured after taking a hard and unnecessary hit during the game.

Shannon Sharpe Warns Shedeur Sanders

The controversial hit occurred in the second half when Kansas DE Dean Miller delivered a late, vicious dive into the knees of Deion Sanders. Following the incident, Shannon Sharpe, a former Super Bowl champion who played against Deion Sanders, shared his thoughts on the latest episode of Nightcap. Sharpe took a moment to address Shedeur directly, reflecting on the play's potential impact on his football future.

Just be careful, bro, because at the NFL level you're gonna get tossed. It's really that simple. You're gonna get tossed out of the game if you put your hands on an official.

Sharpe's advice is sound. While there was little Shedeur could do in the situation, the hit serves as a harsh lesson in learning to withstand tough games. Unfortunately, the Buffaloes were unable to overcome the early adversity, falling behind by 10 points in the first quarter and struggling to recover. Shedeur Sanders had a strong individual performance, completing 23 of 29 es for 266 yards and three touchdowns. Travis Hunter, who now trails Ashton Jeanty in the Heisman race, also impressed with eight receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

The Buffaloes' Situation for Playoffs

As it stands, there is a 4-way tie at the top of the Big 12. Two of those teams will go to the championship game to play for a spot in the CFP. Colorado is behind the other teams in the tiebreaker, so a win next weekend doesn't guarantee them a spot. Everyone involved is on the edge of their seats. So close, yet so far, as the Buffs could end up falling short with a stumble at the penultimate hurdle. Colorado closes out the regular season Friday against Oklahoma State (3-8) and will need a lot of help to contend for the Big 12 title. Deion Sanders vowed his team will turn things around and look "a lot better" in the finale.

"You've got to refocus your young men and let them understand this is not about turkey and dumplings and cranberry sauce and whatever you have," he said. "It's not about that. It's about football, man."
