Hanna Cavinder has had enough.
The Miami Hurricanes guard didn't hold back when she went on a fiery rant against internet trolls, calling out those who make cruel comments about people's appearance and weight. The 23-year-old took to TikTok on Monday, expressing her frustration with the negativity rampant on social media.
"Alright, I need to get this off my chest because it just infuriates me how some people behave online," Cavinder said. Her message came just days after her boyfriend, Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck, suffered a tough loss against Alabama, with the Crimson Tide clinching a 41-34 victory.
Cavinder ionately addressed how she was sickened by individuals who derive joy from criticizing others' looks. She questioned why some people think it's acceptable to post hurtful remarks, as if athletes or public figures aren't real people with real feelings.
"It's actually disgusting how society nowadays just turns a blind eye to how people comment on others' appearance online," Cavinder said in her TikTok video. "Tearing someone down, calling them ugly, making fun of their weight-these are real people who read these comments."
Cavinder is fed up with the outside noise
Cavinder revealed that she herself faces such comments constantly, and she made it clear that she's had enough. Her words were direct and imioned: "If you have nothing nice to say, maybe just shut up." She went on to question how people who make those types of comments were raised, pointing out that she could never imagine treating someone like that.
Though Cavinder didn't specify if the rant was related to herself or her boyfriend, the timing led some to speculate it was connected to negative remarks about Carson Beck following his performance against Alabama. Beck, who threw three interceptions alongside his three touchdowns, faced mixed reactions from fans after the game.
As the Georgia Bulldogs prepare to face Auburn next weekend, it's clear that Cavinder isn't backing down from defending her loved ones. Her bold words serve as a reminder that the people behind the screens are more than just athletes-they're human beings, too.
