Shohei Ohtani is literally in a class of his own after becoming the only player in Major League history to record home runs and 43 stolen bases to leave his Los Angeles Dodgers' manager simply lost for words.

The Dodgers broke the back to make the 30-year-old take the trip across LA from the Angels and it's already proving to be well worth it, despite him being unable to pitch, as he shattered another record in a 10-9 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

Shohei Ohtani's controversial gesture during Phillies game sparks debate

Tied with the New York Yankees legend, Aaron Rodriguez, heading into the game, it turned out he wasn't going to be waiting around for long when he crushed the ball in the eighth inning after posting the stolen base in the second.

"I don't know what else to say," Roberts told media of Ohtani's historic efforts post-game. I don't have any more superlatives on Shohei Ohtani. He's incredible."

Ohtani had only ed the 40-40 club on August 23, becoming the fastest player to ever do so, and from there he needed just seven days to catch up and sur A Rod after matching him on August 29.

He's now closing in on the legendary Ricky Henderson's record for most stolen bases and homers in the same game which stands at 13, with Ohtani lurking on the horizon with 11 in the 2024 season.

When does Shohei Ohtani play next?
