Shohei Ohtani is the face of Major League Baseball (MLB), he is one of the most important players in the history of the game and probably the most effective at being versatile.
All that success has earned him a $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers and all that joy what shred with his best friend and interpreter Ippei Mizuhara right up until the money stealing and gambling scandal.
Now that Mizuhara is dealing with the law, Ohtani is trying to put all that situation behind him while allowing him to maintain his reputation and love from the fans. At least the nights are better than before for Shohei.
"Now that I've been able to do that, I also came to realize that how I feel off the field mentally shouldn't affect my abilities," Shohei Ohtani said through his new interpreter before the Dodgers' Memorial Day game against the Mets. "I have every confidence in my own ability that I could be able to still play without being affected by anything that happens off the field."
Now that it seems that his life is back to normal and he can concentrate only on baseball, there is a new problem looming on him.
First it was money and trust, now a matter of playing through the pain
Shohei Ohtani is dealing with a physical issue that may take a while to heal and the Dodgers cant afford to lose him. He has a bruised hamstring that he has been playing through after being plunked in the leg on May 16 on a pickoff attempt at first base.
"It got worse the next day and started to kind of feel it more and more as I ran more," he said. The Dodgers need him 100%, as they are going through a rough path of their own.
They have lost five straight games and got rained out in New York while manager Dave Roberts thought over the weekend in Cincinnati Ohtani was at 90%. "It's getting better day by day," Ohtani said. "Today's a lot better than yesterday," something that is yet to be confirmed.
