- The prophecy of St. Malachy that disturbs the Church before the conclave
- How many votes does the new pope need to be elected in the conclave
The eyes of the world are on the Vatican. From 16:30 on Wednesday, May 7, all the cardinals with the right to vote will decide on the next Supreme Pontiff. However, before this happens, a scandal has hit the clergy, specifically one of those participants in the momentous decision that will make one of them the new Pope.
According to Archbishop Guido Pecorari, one of the anecdotes in the hours leading up to the conclave took place at the Santa Marta residence, where the cardinals sleep and which was the resting place of Pope Francis during his pontificate.
The confusion of a cardinal hours before the conclave
"I can't tell you his name because he's a great friend of mine, but a foreign cardinal who thought everything was free invited some colleagues to his room for a chat after dinner, and so they quickly finished all the miniature liquors in the minibar," Pecorari says in a relaxed tone.
Although it is just a simple anecdote, the truth is that this confusion has caused some discomfort in the community. "Only then did he find them on the and was annoyed," the archbishop explained.
Unlike the cardinals, who are forbidden from with the outside world and all communication from the conclave, under pain of excommunication, the Church's assistants and prelates can reveal certain details of the inner workings of the process. Pecorari, in this context, has chosen to bring to light this curious moment about a somewhat costly confusion for one of the cardinals.
The next pope, on the other hand, will be able to announce as many details as he wishes of what the conclave was like and how the debate in the Sistine Chapel went to decide who became the successor to Pope Francis.
