The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as Food Stamps, provides monthly food assistance to low-income families across the United States, to supplement their grocery budget and give them the opportunity to purchase nutritious foods essential to their health and well-being.
To receive SNAP benefits from this program, you must apply in the state where you currently reside and meet certain requirements, including resource and income limits, which are updated each year.
The benefits are distributed through an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, which can be used at participating retailers to purchase food and beverages.
The payment dates for SNAP vary because, although it is federally funded, it is distributed by state and local authorities.
