$1,702 Stimulus Payment: These Groups Will Stop Receiving Their Deposits in May 2025
Actualizado

It is well known that the state of Alaska offers an economic benefit to its residents each year through the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD), an initiative that distributes part of the income obtained from oil and gas exploitation

The check that will reach each beneficiary includes two components: $1,403.83 corresponding to the principal dividend and an additional $298.17 bonus to cover energy costs.

Eligibility for the PFD

In the state, many people depend on this payment to be able to cope with the cost of living, and it is therefore important to emphasize the requirements that must be met if they apply to be beneficiaries of this payment, which was instituted in 1976 and helps those who reside continuously in Alaska during the previous calendar year, who have been there for at least 72 hours in the last two years and who demonstrate the intention to remain in the state permanently by having lived at least 12 consecutive months in its territory and have not submitted applications to establish residence outside.

In 2025, the amount allocated to each eligible person will reach $1,702, representing a 30% increase over the previous year's payment.

According to official information from the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) "2024 (and prior year) dividend applications that are in "Eligible-Not Paid" status on May 7, 2025 will be distributed on May 15, 2025".

However, the payment is not for everyone, as there are a number of restrictions that exclude some in order to preserve the integrity of the fund and ensure that only citizens with roots in Alaska and those who look after its welfare are the recipients of this benefit. These are the people who could be excluded.

The following will not receive the 2025 PFD:

  • Are people claimed as dependents on someone else's tax return.
  • They do not have a valid Social Security Number.
  • Those who have felony convictions or more than two misdemeanor convictions during the 2024 calendar year.
  • Those who were not required to file a tax return, usually due to low income or lack of immigration status.
